THE FACELESS Drummer Quits
January 23, 2013Drummer Lyle Cooper has confirmed his departure from Los Angeles-based progressive death metal titans THE FACELESS.
Said Cooper in a statement: "After almost five years with the band, I've decided to part ways.
"Over the last couple of years it seemed that the interests, goals and musical approach of the band was not that of my own. Also, managerial issues became too frequent with no resolution. These issues, I felt, made it hard for me as an individual to produce as a creative and enthusiastic member.
"I'm sure that proceeding my departure, the band will have no trouble finding someone with the right mindset and talents to step in and keep the band moving forward.
"Thank you to the fans and everyone who supported THE FACELESS throughout the years. I wish the band and its members nothing but continued success and make sure you catch them on their upcoming tours. I will still be pursuing my other musical projects so look out for new ABSVRDIST and ABHORRENT this year."
THE FACELESS's third full-length album, "Autotheism", was issued on August 14, 2012 via Sumerian Records. The band's first release in over three years saw the group's leader, Michael Keene, enlist a new vocalist, bassist and additional guitarist to help him see his musical vision come to fruition and these new members have delivered tenfold.
According to a press release, "Autotheism" is "a semi-conceptual record following a man's journey of self-discovery and transformation into the all-powerful God of his reality. It starts with his realization of the power he possesses and moves through every step of an ever-evolving reality that the future may have in store. Musically, 'Autotheism' is expansive in all directions. It is a thought-provoking roller coaster with the occasional sledge hammer to the skull and contains more dynamics and diversity than any offering presented by THE FACELESS to date."
